Week 7 - Understanding Letterform
Eventho some uppercase letter forms looks symmetry but in fact is not symmetrical. A stroke weights can play a lot of role to make that letter much more elegant. Also, the x height generally describe the size of lowercase letterforms. However some letters some curved strokes as it needs to be higher than the median. This is to ensure that letter to appear to be same size as the vertical and horizontal strokes they adjoin of other letters. Also, we need to know the counter-form of the letter or counter, like the spaces in the middle of the O called a counter form.

Project 2a Creating Font
For the second project, we were task to design a limited number of western alphabets or other known as fonts. To begin we need to choose a reference point or a reference alphabet from any typefamily that I like and try to begin it from there. Our first Exercise was to analyse the letter O, H and D in either lowercase or uppercase which I choose any. The reason we analyse this specific letter because usually when somebody start to design a font, they start with H and O.

My choice of reference to start design my own font was Universe. I start to do A I and M. I slowly try to trace it back how it looks and create a futuristic and boxy lookalike.

After I get Feedback from Mr Vinod, I did a few fixes on the E, G, D, O and B. And Figure 1.04 is my final results of my Font.

Then follow up to that we need to generate it in Font lab provided by Mr Vinod, Mr Shamsul and Taylors University for the license. First when I open I start with the font names and filled up the detail. I choose the font name based on my second name which is Nazhan but shorten it to Naz.

THE FEEDBACK
Week 8
Mr Vinod says need to fix the D and O curvature as it looks a bit small than it should be. Also no need to do alot of angular design on the E and I. Can use it on the coma. The exclamation mark also can increase the height even more. The coma also I need to flip it mirror it.
Week 9
Mr Vinod and Mr Shamsul say that everything is good for the poster design and both like it. Just need to fix the G abit the inside to make it smaller.
THE REFLECTIONS
Experience
I found out that making font is tough and need take some time. But besides all that its enjoying and fun as I can create my own font. Thus, it need a lot more time before the final piece is good to eyes.
Observations
I observe alot of people making font takes time and effort for them to reach the final piece.
Findings
I found alot of example that inspired me. This findings inspired me and lead me to design this futuristic font that I created.
